Bye Bye Berlin

The Victory Tower, now called the
Freedom Tower
Today we leave the sunny crisp days and rainy nights of Berlin to catch the train to Prague.

Yesterday we got a taste of what it was like to live in the former GDR – from collective potty training to schooling and apprenticeships, to concrete slab flats and Stasi listening devices.

Here is a collection of photos from around Berlin, many of Albrecht the Bear.

Albrecht the Bear was a big hairy man who came from the North of Germany.

He was the first ‘ruler’ of Berlin, in the 12th or 13th century.

A big rock sculpture seen near a part of The Wall

Near the station, representative of train wheels, etc
Rails to a new life or rails to death
Seen outside another station

lost after Christmas?

  1. What a lovely trip I just know you had. I was able to travel there once in my life so far, when my grandparents were still alive and living in West Berlin, as they called it then! Beautiful photos.
