Parlez-vous anglais?

Bonjour from rural France!
I went to a country high school where no other language was taught until Form 4 (Year 10) so I don’t speak any French. Paul speaks a little and understands less. We are very reliant on friendliness and patience here. Luckily we have found both so far.

Paul’s cousin and husband drove us to Liege where we caught the train to Brussels, then the TGV to Lille to pick up our car. We really enjoyed our stay with family and look forward to hopefully visiting again in a couple of years.
We have a Citroen C4 Picasso with GPS but we can’t find the GPS let alone the settings button to change it to English. Luckily the B&B had excellent directions on their website that I had ‘taken a snapshot’ of on the MacAir. Pity it wasn’t that easy getting out of the hire car parking garage at the station.
I didn’t put the link to this Farm B&B up with the other French accommodation – here it is:

Our hostess Francine doesn’t speak much English but tries hard and we have managed to communicate enough to get our room, connected to wifi, somewhere to eat tonight and organise coffee and breakfast for 9am tomorrow morning – Pretty good, eh?!
Our room is yellow and pretty with enough room for all our extra bags of shopping. The bathroom is big and clean with a bath. We are only a couple of kilometres from a major highway and 17km from the big city of Lille but it is peaceful here except for the birds. We look out over fields and a few cottages. The trees are in blossom (Spring).
It is really hazy here and visibility is quite low. Hopefully it will improve by tomorrow when we go the few kilometres to Fromelles and Vimy.
